Studies on the nature of knowledge and the epistemological foundations of science in philosophy have been widely discussed; however, fundamental understanding of knowledge from the perspective of Islamic educational philosophy remains limited. The main issue addressed in this study is how the nature of knowledge is explained epistemologically according to Islamic thought and its implications for Islamic education. This research aims to elaborate on the epistemological foundations of knowledge in Islamic education and to provide a comprehensive understanding of the authentic sources and methods of knowledge according to Islam. The research method used is a qualitative study employing a library research approach through an analysis of various books, journals, and both classical and contemporary sources in Islamic philosophy of education and knowledge. The findings indicate that knowledge in Islamic education possesses a strong epistemological foundation rooted in both revelation (wahy) and reason (‘aql), emphasizing harmony between cognition and spirituality. Thus, Islamic education not only highlights rational and scientific aspects but also integrates spiritual and moral values within the process of acquiring knowledge. This study reinforces the importance of integrating Islamic epistemology in the development of curriculum and learning methods in Islamic education
