The rapid development of information technology in the digital era requires educational institutions, including modern Islamic boarding schools (pondok pesantren), to optimize data management and academic service systems. This study aims to analyze the needs of an academic information system in a Modern Islamic Boarding School as a foundation for designing an effective and efficient system that aligns with the characteristics and managerial structure of the pesantren. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, using data collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis involving academic administrators, program heads, teachers, and students. The findings indicate that academic data management within the pesantren is still conducted manually, which often leads to delays in information processing, data duplication, and inaccuracies in the recap of grades and academic reporting. The needs analysis identifies several essential features required in the system, including digital management of student data, class schedules, assessments, attendance, and academic reports. These findings highlight an urgent need to develop a digital academic information system to enhance data accuracy, streamline administrative processes, and support the government's digitalization program for pesantren. The implementation of such a system is expected to create a more integrated academic workflow, ultimately benefiting all stakeholders—including administrators, teachers, and students.
