Abstract

This study examines the strategies used by teachers to address learning boredom and support students’ learning motivation at SDIT Multazam, Pamekasan Regency. It employed a qualitative descriptive case-study approach. Data were collected through interviews with a classroom teacher and students, classroom observations, and documentation. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that learning boredom among Grade 1 students was associated with the transition from early childhood education to elementary school, limited attention span, monotonous learning activities, differences in student characteristics, and classroom conditions. Teachers responded through ice-breaking activities, visual learning media such as videos, and outdoor learning when the subject matter allowed. Classroom observations and interview accounts described improved attention, participation, and enthusiasm following these strategies. The findings also highlight the supporting roles of teachers and parents in helping students adapt to school and sustain motivation. The study offers a context-specific account of how varied instructional strategies can help address boredom and encourage student engagement in an integrated Islamic elementary school
