Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Postmodernism: Indonesian Journal of Multidisciplinary Islamic Studies is a peer-reviewed journal published in January, May, and September, in both print and online formats. This statement clarifies the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, editorial board members, reviewers, and the publisher. This policy is based on the COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

Publishing Ethics Guidelines

Publishing in this journal contributes to the development of a coherent and respected scholarly communication network. All published works reflect the quality of the authors and their supporting institutions. Therefore, all parties involved in the publication process are expected to adhere to ethical standards of academic publishing.

The journal is published by Lembaga Pendidikan Tinggi Nahdlatul Ulama (LPTNU), Pengurus Cabang Nahdlatul Ulama (PCNU), Nganjuk Regency, East Java, Indonesia. The publisher is responsible for overseeing all stages of publication and ensuring that commercial interests do not influence editorial decisions. The publisher also supports communication with other journals or institutions when necessary.

Editorial Responsibilities

  • Publication Decision: Editors are responsible for deciding which submitted articles are published based on academic validity, originality, and relevance. Legal requirements regarding defamation, copyright, and plagiarism are also considered.
  • Fair Treatment: Manuscripts are evaluated solely on intellectual content, without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, or political beliefs.
  • Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff must maintain confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and must not disclose any information to unauthorized parties.
  • Conflicts of Interest: Editors must not use unpublished materials for personal research without written consent from the author.
  • Contribution to Decisions: Peer reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions and help improve manuscript quality through constructive feedback.

Reviewer Responsibilities

  • Timeliness: Reviewers who feel unqualified or unable to complete a timely review must inform the editor immediately.
  • Objectivity: Reviews must be conducted objectively, with clear arguments and without personal criticism.
  • Recognition of Sources: Reviewers must identify relevant works not cited by the authors and report any substantial similarity or overlap with other publications.
  • Confidentiality: Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents.
  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must not evaluate manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest, whether personal, professional, or institutional.

Author Responsibilities

  • Reporting Standards: Authors must present accurate and honest research data, with sufficient detail and references to allow replication.
  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are original and properly cite all sources used.
  • Multiple Submission: Manuscripts must not be submitted to more than one journal simultaneously, nor published multiple times describing the same research.
  • Authorship: Authorship is limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the research. All listed authors must approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission.
  • Correction of Errors: If significant errors are discovered in a published work, authors must promptly inform the editor to issue corrections or retractions.
