AI refers to artificial intelligence technologies capable of generating content such as text, images, audio, or synthetic data. Examples include platforms such as ChatGPT, DALL-E, and similar tools. This policy has been established in response to the increasing use of AI and AI-based technologies in academia. Its purpose is to provide clear guidelines and ensure transparency for authors, reviewers, editors, and all contributors to Madinia: Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences.
If authors use AI or AI-based technologies during manuscript preparation, these tools may only be utilized to enhance the quality of language. All use of AI must be under human supervision, and authors are required to thoroughly review and verify their manuscripts. Authors bear full responsibility for the content of their articles. The use of AI or AI-based technologies must be clearly disclosed in the manuscript. This statement should be included in the published article to ensure transparency and maintain public trust. AI or AI-based technologies must not be listed as authors. Each author is responsible for the validity, integrity, and originality of their article and must ensure compliance with publication ethics. The use of AI or AI-based technologies to create or modify images in the article, including image editing, is not permitted. However, adjustments to brightness, contrast, or color balance are allowed as long as they do not obscure or remove any information from the original image.
Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers may upload manuscripts or sections thereof to AI tools only if confidentiality and the authors’ rights are maintained. The review process is an essential part of academic practice and requires human assessment. AI or AI-based technologies must not be used to assist in the evaluation of manuscripts, as they may introduce inaccuracies or biases. Madinia: Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences may use internally developed or licensed AI technologies for completeness checks and plagiarism detection, while safeguarding the confidentiality and privacy of authors’ work.
Submitted manuscripts are considered confidential documents. Editors may upload manuscripts or sections thereof to AI tools provided that confidentiality and the authors’ rights are preserved. This confidentiality also applies to all communications related to the manuscript, including notifications and decision letters. Editors are responsible for the integrity of the editorial process and for the decisions communicated to authors. If editors suspect any violation of the AI policy by authors, this must be reported to the journal management for further action. Madinia: Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences may use internal or licensed AI technologies to support the editorial process, while strictly adhering to principles of confidentiality and data protection.
