Author Guidelines

COMMUNA: Journal of Community and Local Wisdom publishes scholarly articles that have not been previously published and are not under consideration by other journals. All submitted manuscripts must follow the journal’s focus and scope and comply with ethical publication standards.

1. Types of Manuscripts

COMMUNA accepts the following types of manuscripts:

  • Original research articles

  • Conceptual or theoretical papers

  • Best practice reports related to community service and social development

2. Scope of Articles

Submitted manuscripts should address topics related to:

  • Community empowerment and participatory development

  • Local wisdom and indigenous knowledge

  • Community-based education and social innovation

  • Community service and social engagement

  • Social development and sustainable community practices

3. Language

Manuscripts may be written in English or Bahasa Indonesia using clear, academic language.

4. Manuscript Preparation

  • Manuscripts must be prepared using the journal’s official article template.

  • The length of the manuscript should be approximately 5,000–8,000 words, including references.

  • The manuscript should be structured as follows:

    • Title

    • Author(s) name and affiliation

    • Abstract (150–250 words)

    • Keywords (3–5 keywords)

    • Introduction

    • Methods (if applicable)

    • Results and Discussion

    • Conclusion

    • References

5. Abstract and Keywords

  • Abstracts must clearly state the research objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.

  • Keywords should reflect the core concepts of the article.

6. References

  • References must be relevant, up to date, and primarily derived from scholarly sources.

  • Citation and referencing must follow the APA style.

  • Authors are encouraged to use reference management software (e.g., Mendeley, Zotero).

7. Submission Process

  • Manuscripts must be submitted online through the COMMUNA Open Journal System (OJS).

  • Authors must register and log in to submit manuscripts and track the review process.

8. Peer Review Process

  • All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process.

  • Editorial decisions are based on reviewers’ recommendations and the journal’s quality standards.

9. Publication Ethics

COMMUNA is committed to upholding the principles of publication ethics, including:

  • Originality and avoidance of plagiarism

  • Proper authorship and acknowledgment

  • Transparency of research data and findings

Manuscripts that do not comply with these guidelines will be returned to the authors for revision or rejected.
